Sanctuary Reteats
Sanctuary welcomes individuals and groups for a personally curated experience combining our self-healing modalities with your health & wellness and self-care needs. Our healing center is ideal for sabbaticals, executive retreats, personal and staff development, writing & creative art residencies, collective healing and cultural/spiritual practices. Within a private community, 4 balconies, and a large wrap around garden, you will feel like you are in your very own sanctuary. Dr. Dee works with you to create an exclusive retreat that meets your unique needs. Sanctuary quickly becomes a sacred space for the soul of our guests, and we invite all parts of your humanity to bring your heartbreaks and celebrations to the altar.
Welcome to my sanctuary and latest retreat project, nestled right on the majestic northern Atlantic shoreline. This healing center is a space to come to for much needed respite and exhale where you can become your own social justice.
Here you can breathe, create, heal, and dream. This sanctuary hosts activists, organizers, teachers, social workers, entrepreneurs, creatives, executive directors, healers, artists, and writers from around the world — those who are on the frontlines working and fighting for systemic change.
You only need to take one look at this place to know that it’s pretty special. The center is the legacy home of Dr. Dees 84 year old mother, Andrea Marte, who bought her dream home 20+ years ago after being on her own healing journey-in the same town she was born in.
The roof top of the house looks out to the ocean on the left and the mountain Isabel de Torres on the right. It was here that she dreamed of doing a healing circle with her eight sisters who shortly after started to pass away- she never did it. In her mothers name Dr. Dee has transformed the home into a Sanctuary to do what her mother never got a chance to do — support young and adult women heal.
LOCATED IN BETWEEN THE MOUNTAINS AND THE OCEAN, PUERTO PLATA IS KNOWN AS THE AMBAR COAST - A PLACE WHERE HERSTORY & HEALING MEET.
Costambar beach is nearby and only a 15-minute bicycle ride from the resort. Bicycles are provided for our guests. We’re in the gated community of Hacienda Pinilla and downtown Tamarindo is a 10 minute cab ride.
Fly into Liberia airport (airport code LIR). There are direct flights from a number of major cities in the U.S., such as Los Angeles (LAX) and New York (JFK). The resort is a 1.5 hour ride from the airport and shuttle rides are available.
Within the stunning landscape of Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic you will find this breathtaking retreat center for healing, wellness, peace and ease. Have a dip in the pool, walk on the beach, nourish your body with fresh fruit or just take some time to explore yourself in this beautiful countryside and let go of interpersonal and intergenerational violence, historical oppression, organizational trauma, social political pandemics, manmade disasters and crises.
